Tickets go on sale for Cretaro game

Sligo Rovers are to honour one of their greatest servants as they host a testimonial for the legendary Raffaele Cretaro on Saturday 28th July with a 6pm kick-off in the Showgrounds.

The opposition will be a Raffaele Cretaro XI made up of some of the best players that have played alongside the Tubbercurry native over the years.

Confirmed so far are Ciaran Kelly, Richard Brush, Jason McGuinness, Romauld Boco, Danny Ventre, Joseph Ndo, Anthony Elding, Mark Quigley, Paul McTiernan, Ciaran Foley, Barry O’Dwyer, Matthew Judge, Jeff Henderson, Danny North, Carl Van Der Velden and Paul Lally with more names to be announced in the next few weeks.

The Tubber Tornado is second on the club’s all-time appearance list and is closing in on Tony Fagan’s of league appearances.

He is also the second highest goal scorer in the club’s history and one of its most decorated players having won the First Division (2005), the FAI Cup twice (2011 & 2013), the Premier Division (2012) and the Setanta Sports Cup (2014).

Dundalk game moved to Sunday

Sligo Rovers v Dundalk scheduled for Saturday, 21st July has been moved to Sunday, 22nd July at The Showgrounds with a kick-off time of 7.00 pm.

In the event of Dundalk progressing to the second qualifying round of the Europa League then the fixture will be postponed until a later date.

Dundalk are 1-0 up from the first leg of their first round match.

Showgrounds to home BreastCheck clinic

Sligo Rovers can confirm that the club has offered The Showgrounds for use for the BreastCheck mobile clinic after a location was unable to be secured in the centre of Sligo.

After learning of the issues of not being able to find a suitable home for the service, the Sligo Rovers committee agreed to offer the use of The Showgrounds and it will take up the location at the end of this month. Continue reading “Showgrounds to home BreastCheck clinic”
